Career

Currently work is a bit intense, and it will probably stay that way until march, when we'll deploy one of our biggest projects. This should both lower the workload and increase revenue, which should lead to more investments in the workforce again.

Uboat game

I'm currently working on a small hobby game, which takes place in a uboat. It's a open world, sandbox-ish game where you slowly upgrade a rusty barrel into a competent machine. I might share my progress here eventuelly, currently I'm on milestone 2 of 5 for a MVP

  1. Uboat and player movement
  2. Basic game loop, go out on patrol, spot a ship and return <-- Almost done, enemy convoy ships and spotting is done, only menus are left
  3. Basic upgrade system, when on patrol increment hidden timer, then unlock upgrade
  4. Rudimentary map, create rough islands and settlements
  5. Worldbuilding and story, start with a monologue of the basic story

Etcetera

Just invested in a proper home office setup, with two 4k screens (They have gotten cheap, just 180€ each), a proper keyboard and mouse, plus a dock. This not only makes working from home more bearable (I mostly work alone anyway), it makes it so much easier and motivating to work on personal projects. Since everything is connected to the same dock, I can just swap my work laptop for the refurbished laptop I bought from the local tech store.

Also just invested in a new AM5 CPU, along with motherboard, ram and radiator to accompany it. Doesn't really feel that worthwhile yet, basically only notice a difference it strategy games (5 speed in paradox games is now too fast :( ).

However now I have the possibility to upgrade my GPU aswell without being bottlenecked, especially since I previously had a I7-6700k, which was basically the end of the road for the LGA1151 socket. Thats why I invested in AM5 instead of the cheaper AM4, since when AM6 comes I should be able to get a good AM5 processor for a cheap price, perhaps second hand. 4 x 4ghz (4,2ghz boost) is starting to show it's age, but my new 12 x 4,7ghz (5,7ghz boost) should stay relevant for a long time.

I felt like I should have a footer, but I don't know what to put here...
